How to make a VRChat avatar
The honest version: AI does the character model (the part that used to cost a commission), then Mixamo and Unity finish the job. Four steps, no surprises.

Step 01
Generate your character
Describe your avatar with the A-pose formula below (or upload existing character art). Front-facing A-pose is the secret: it reconstructs best and rigs cleanly later.
Step 02
Convert it into a 3D model
Feed the reference into Image to 3D with Prism 3.1 - full-detail reconstruction that keeps the face, hair, and outfit intact. Export as FBX for the Unity pipeline.
Step 03
Rig it with Mixamo or Blender
Auto-rig the FBX in minutes with Adobe's free Mixamo, or rig manually in Blender for full control. The A-pose from step 1 makes either path smooth.
Step 04
Upload with Unity + the VRChat SDK
Import the rigged FBX into Unity, add the VRChat SDK's avatar descriptor, set the viewpoint, and publish. VRChat's own docs walk through this final step.

Every avatar on this page is one character line plus this formula. The A-pose isn’t style - it’s what makes the model reconstruct and rig cleanly.

VRChat’s polygon budgets, and how to hit them
VRChat rates every avatar by triangle count (among other things). Generate at full detail, then Remesh to the rank you’re targeting - one character serves both PC and Quest.
Ranks also weigh materials, bones, and dynamic components - triangles are the part you fix at the mesh stage. The Remesh tool retopologizes any generation to an exact count with clean, rig-friendly topology.

3d models that wont break the bank. I made around 25 models rigged a few. It was able to use just my png 2d artwork to generate a 3d model which can be saved as glb, fbx, stl, which port over into game engines easy. Some of my characters have armor on an it made them look so AAA in thier armor.
